There are three conditions of our will :
1. Taken captive by the devil.
2. Free to decide on our own.
3. Surrendered to God.
If our will is taken captive by the devil, then we cannot do what we have to do. If our will is free, then we can do what we have to do after we have made a conscious decision to do it. If our will is surrendered to God, we will do what we have to do without seemingly making a conscious decision to do it.
Before we believe in the Lord Jesus, our will is taken captive by the devil. We cannot decide nor choose freely. When we believe in the Lord Jesus, our will is set free. We can decide and choose with our free will. When we are baptized with the Holy Spirit, God makes it possible for our will to be completely surrendered to Him. When we are full of the Holy Spirit, it is God who works in us both to will and to do according to His good pleasure that our decision is actually His decision and our choice is actually His choice.
